Pat Spence is a former wildlife biologist with the US Fish & Wildlife Service, avid environmentalist, herbalist, and dedicated pet partner to a wide variety of critters from dogs and cats, to parrots, ferrets, and rescued prairie dogs. She is also a chandler (candle maker) and soap maker, preferring healthy, natural homemade home and body products over commercial synthetic, chemical products. Finding spiritual as well as health benefits to creating useful, every day products and herbal remedies from Nature, Pat is enthusiastic about sharing the knowledge to both adults and kids.

As a freelance writer, Pat has written extensively on environmental and health issues with a focus on the individual, helping to provide the tools and knowledge to assist people in taking control of their own small corners of the biosphere. Pat firmly believes that big things happen in small pieces, that the first step to improving the earth's community is to commit as individuals to our own health and well-being and that of our families.
